Well, I’ve had my GOAT Multitool for long enough to offer some comments. Overall I like it pretty well. However it has some issues which I think from discussions with support are in the process of being fixed. The big issue id with the plier head, specifically with the lack of the ability of the stock tool to actually cut wire. Any kind of wire actually. There is no overlap on the cutting edges, and there is noplace for wire being cut to move into. This can be remedied to some extent by using a dremel tool with a small diameter carbide cutter . Remove the cutting blades and carefully remove some material from the head of the plier. Like you see in hard wire cutters in other tools.. I did this in two places, one above and one below the replaceable cutter blade. The bottom wire I made just a little bigger than coat hanger wire and the one above the cutter was made just a bit larger than small diameter aluminum electric fence wire. This improves the cutting ability quite a bit, but it still is not real good. GOAT is amply aware of this issue and they tell me they have a redesign of the plier head in the works.
I ordered both a file and the package cutter with my purchase. The file is something I wish I’d saved my money on. GOAT tells me this tool is the first one to have a version 2.o, so we’ll see. It simply won't file much of anything. They need a combo ifle with a rough combo file that is muck more aggressive than the one they have and also a diamond file would be a nice option. The package cutter is a great tool The included tools are all very good. With mine I found I had ti put the scalpel blade in on the magnet side of the bit driver. The magnet keeps in in place when using other tools. On my unit it has a tendency to pop up from the folded position ever so slightly and it found out the hard way that the blade can stick up enough to be dangerous.
I am pretty well hooked with the ability to easily place new tools and rearrange them however suits your needs. The size is just right for what I need, so I’m sticking with this for some time until I see the new plier head and wherever they fo with new tools. I requested a T shank adapter, which they said was also in the works.
Overall I’ll rate this a 4 out of 5 stars. If they fix the plier head I’d go 4.5=4.6. If the redesign does not work, it’ll be a 3 out ot 5.
